Lion's Mane Amber from Sumatra is a captivating and rare variety of Amber, a 15- 30 million-year-old fossilized tree sap. Lion's Mane Amber variety is named for its remarkable resemblance to the majestic mane of a lion, characterized by its deep, rich golden-brown hue interspersed with darker streaks and swirls, mimicking the flowing and intricate patterns found in a lion's mane. Its color palette ranges from vibrant, sunny gold to deeper, almost reddish-brown tones, creating a dynamic and fiery appearance.

Geologically, Lion's Mane Amber is a fossilized tree resin, like all ambers, but what sets it apart is its unique appearance when exposed to UV light. Some Sumatran amber produces a blue glow called the Usambara Effect. This unique phenomenon is attributed to natural Sulfur inclusions in the Amber, which interact with the UV light to create a distinctive blue coloration. The color change is superficial, as the UV light is completely absorbed and does not penetrate the Amber, resulting in the observed blue glow. This effect is specific to Sumatran Blue Amber and is not observed in all types of Amber.

Amber has been used by many cultures for hundreds of years to reduce inflammation and pain. Amber is also believed to balance the body's energy and promote calm and clarity. Amber is also sometimes thought to have protective properties, and it is often used as a talisman or amulet to ward off negative energy or to bring good luck.
