Halite

Halite crystals are formed once a year when the seasons turn and the winter snowmelt evaporates in the fresh spring weather. Halite is typically white but can be tinted lovely shades of pink, blue, and purple by various impurities. The stunning hue of pink displayed in the group we picked up this year is due to algae that live in the lake.
As of 2022 these lakes are no longer open for public collection and a very limited number of miners are allowed to enter the now-dry areas of the lake that produce these incredible cubic Halite.
