Black Tourmaline

Black Tourmaline, also known as Schorl, is a member of the Tourmaline group, a complex group of boron silicate minerals. Tourmaline derives its name from the Singhalese phrase "tura mali," which translates to "stone with mixed colors". These crystals form in a trigonal system and are characterized by their three-sided prisms and striated lengthwise patterns.

Black Tourmaline can be found all over the world, with notable deposits in Brazil, Africa, the USA, Western Australia, Afghanistan, and Italy. One of the most significant sources is the Erongo region in Namibia, known for its superb-quality Black Tourmaline crystals.

Metaphysically, Black Tourmaline is celebrated for its ability to absorb and transmute negative energies. It is believed to act as an energetic shield, deflecting harmful influences and promoting a sense of safety and security. This mineral is often associated with the root chakra, grounding the wearer to the Earth's energies and instilling a deep sense of stability. Black Tourmaline is a talisman of purification, aiding in the release of fear and anxiety, and fostering emotional resilience.
