Septarian is a distinctive geological formation, also known as a Septarian nodule or dragon stone, that stands out due to its unique patterns and composition. It's composed primarily of three minerals, including Calcite (yellow), Aragonite (brown), and Limestone (gray). These nodules were formed 50 to 125 million years ago during the Cretaceous period through concretion, a process where mineral-rich fluids fill spaces between sedimentary particles, leading to solid masses. Over time, the ocean receded, drying out the nodules and creating cracks later filled with calcite crystals, creating the breathtaking appearance found in Septarian stones. Some specimens will display UV reactivity in the Aragonite layers.
This listing is for one crystal, as pictured; please see all photos and videos, and feel free to send a message if you have any further questions.
