Grape agate is a unique and relatively rare form of chalcedony, a type of mineral that is composed of microscopic crystals of quartz. It is found in the Mamuju area of West Sulawesi, Indonesia and is known for its striking purple coloration and resemblance to clusters of grapes.

The grape-like formations are created by a process known as botryoidal growth, in which the mineral forms rounded, globular shapes that resemble clusters of grapes. The purple coloration is caused by the presence of manganese, which can create a range of hues from pale lavender to deep violet.
