Lustrous beige Olmiite with classic wheat sheaf aggregate crystals on Manganite blades.
Olmiite is a calcium-manganese silicate found in the Kalahari Manganese Fields of South Africa exclusively as of yet. Previously these specimens were described as Poldervaarite but were officially recognized as a new species by the IMA in 2006 and named after the Italian scientist Filippo Olmi (1959-2005) for his work in mineralogy at the CNR-Istituto di Geoscienze e Georisorse in Florence, Italy.
