Translucent pink Petrified Wood Cast from the Crooked River, Oregon
This particular variety of Petrified wood is formed when in rare conditions when the wood is buried beneath layers of hot volcanic ash that causes the organic material to burn away, leaving space for agate to fill in the exact cavities left by the original wood. This differs from the typical Petrified wood due to the full mineralization of the Agate in Cast specimen and permineralization (incomplete crystallization at a molecular level) of Petrified wood.
